Lace knitting is undeniably beautiful and has timeless appeal, yet many knitters feel daunted by taking on such a project. This workshop aims to demystify lace knitting, provide you with a solid introduction to knitting lace stitches, and improve your confidence in undertaking such a project.

On the day you’ll get to play with making a number of swatches to learn the techniques that will equip you to get started knitting simple lace projects.

On the day we’ll cover:

  • making simple lace stitches and understand how they 'work'

  • how to read and follow lace charts successfully

  • fixing mistakes and placing lifelines

  • different types of decreases

  • successfully work shapings while knitting a lace stitch

    pattern

  • working short row shapings - a technique often used

    in shawl designs

  • best cast ons for lace knitting

  • block and care for your finished lace item

Provided for you:

  • full tuition

  • a range of different yarns to try in your practice swatches

  • a workshop pack containing training materials

  • a complementary pattern for a lace project designed by Donna

Light refreshments are also provided. A meal and any additional snacks can be purchased from the high street, or you may prefer to bring your own packed lunch.
